Creepers

Creepers is a video game in the puzzle genre developed by Destiny Software Productions, Inc. and published by Psygnosis Limited originally released in 1993. It is currently playable on DOS.

At first glance it would be easy to mistake Creepers for a Lemmings clone.

Thick, colorful graphics, toe-tapping music, levels peppered with pistons, flaming torches and obstacles for a six-pixel protagonist. Fortunately, Destiny SP has created an original, interesting and versatile game, probably more akin to Sierra's Incredible Machine than the Lemmings saga. Your job is to help a group of caterpillars on their ponderous journey to a hatching pot. To do this, you use a number of tool points to build ramps, walls, fans, trampolines and other useful items. If you succeed, your wards will emerge as butterflies. The interface is simple and mouse-driven, but suffers from a lack of refinement, something that would have been corrected with a little more playtesting. The caterpillars are suitably 'cute' (the 'awww' factor of passing relatives), but don't be fooled by their appearance. At the higher levels, their looks won't save them, and unless you're a) a genius or b) omnipotent, neither will you. But if you're up for a challenge and aren't scared of bugs, Creepers will provide hours of entertainment.
