Curling 2012 brings the strategy and precision of the winter sport to Windows in a compact, easy-to-learn simulation. Players take control of a curling team and compete on a regulation sheet of ice, sending polished stones toward the house while attempting to place them closer to the button than the opposing side. Each end becomes a contest of positioning, timing, and judgment, with every delivery capable of changing the arrangement of stones around the target.

A shot begins with the selection of a direction and delivery strength. The player must judge the angle of release, the required weight, and the amount of curl needed to guide the stone into position. Stones can be sent directly toward the house, used to remove an opponent’s stone, or placed as guards in front of the scoring area. Sweeping influences the stone’s movement after release, helping it travel farther and reducing the amount of curl across the ice. Successful play depends on anticipating the final path rather than simply aiming at the center of the house.

Matches are divided into ends, with the teams alternating deliveries until all stones have been played. Once an end is complete, the stone closest to the button determines the scoring result, and additional points are awarded for any other stones belonging to the same team that lie nearer than the opponent’s best stone. The score is displayed clearly between ends, allowing players to adapt their tactics as the match develops. A cautious lead can be protected with guards and take-outs, while a team behind on the scoreboard may need to attempt more ambitious draws and combination shots.

The presentation uses a clean, functional Windows style, with the ice sheet occupying the central portion of the screen and interface panels providing score, turn, and shot information. The rink is marked with familiar house rings, center lines, and delivery areas, while the stones are distinguished by contrasting team colors. Simple animations show each stone sliding, curling, and colliding with others, making the result of every delivery easy to follow. Menus and controls are arranged for quick access, keeping attention on the developing position.

Audio supports the measured pace of play with restrained effects for stone release, contact, and movement across the ice. Sweeping and collision sounds provide useful feedback without overwhelming the action, while menu and match cues give the game a modest sporting atmosphere. The result is a thoughtful contest in which careful planning is as important as accurate control. Curling 2012 offers short, approachable games for newcomers while giving experienced players room to develop defensive setups, precise draws, and decisive last-stone strategies.
