Curse

Curse is a video game in the action genre developed by Micronet Co. Ltd. and published by Micronet Co. Ltd. originally released in 1989. It is currently playable on Genesis.

Curse is a basic horizontal scrolling shooter, one of the first released for the Megadrive, in which you pilot a space fighter through deadly environments such as a mutant jungle, a ruined city, and a subway volcano. The game features five stages, and at various points in each stage a larger boss enemy appears that must be destroyed to continue.

There are a variety of weapon power-ups to collect, each with three power levels. There's a scatter shot that can cover almost the entire screen, a bomb that explodes into shrapnel when it connects, and a wide, spinning shot that can pass through obstacles in the environment. There are also guided missiles, smart bombs, accelerators, and an option that can be placed on either side of the ship. The ship also has a shield that can absorb damage from smaller bullets, meaning it can take a few hits before exploding unless hit by an enemy ship, part of the scenery, or some special enemy weapons that simply ignore the shield.
