Deadly Evil

Deadly Evil is a video game in the action genre and published by Players Premier originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC.

You survived the attack and plunder when you were a child from the onslaught of the monsters of The Evil Ones who took the child Princess and the ancient scrolls that protected the land from them. Now you are a man, a warrior, who is the only one left in a land full of old men, women and children and you have sworn to return the scrolls and the Princess to the people. First you must go through a forest killing the monsters of The Evil Ones and collecting six pieces of the scrolls before entering a castle. Inside the castle you must kill more monsters and collect keys to open the doors to rescue the Princess and escape the castle to safety.

Deadly Evil is a side-scrolling game with platforming elements in which the screen scrolls left or right as you move your hero. Starting at the far left of the forest you must walk to the right while avoiding or killing attacking monsters with your sword by collecting pieces of the scroll you find. The obelisks are scattered around the ground and you must avoid them because if you touch one a mage appears and shoots you for a brief moment. Once you have found the six pieces of the scroll you enter the castle and again continue walking to the right until you find the princess. Once found, you must get her out of the castle making sure she is not killed. During the game, if you touch a monster or get hit by a weapon, you will lose part of an energy meter (a heart on the C64) and when it empties, it will be game over. Once you have the princess, she will also have an energy meter.
