Alcatraz

A drug baron took over the prison of Alcatraz and now the player takes the role of a U. S. Navy Seal to enter and neutralize him. He has two hours to complete his objectives in three buildings and needs to survive two different styles of gameplay: side-scrolling fighting in the streets and first-person shooting inside. Outside, the goal is to get to the building where you need to complete the objectives. Of course, the baron's thugs are not very happy and try to kill the hero, so the hero has to shoot back with many different weapons, such as flamethrowers, machine guns, bombs and other destructive or melee weapons, which can be picked up from dead enemies. As in Hostage: Rescue Mission, you can also hide in the background in certain locations. Once inside a building, the game switches to a first-person view, in which the player has to navigate a maze to reach his objective, for example, retrieving evidence. A radar and a rifle are at his disposal.

HeroQuest

HeroQuest, released in 1991, was an interactive role-playing board game at the twilight of the DOS age. Developed by Gremlin Graphics, the game put aside the typical first person shooter genre of the time and instead provided a more complex and layered RPG experience. Offering a change of pace to the more action-oriented, reflex-testing options available, HeroQuest was a creative game of tactical strategy, with the added advantages of an immersive and intuitive world. The game featured vibrant graphics and intricate narrative, all of which were highly praised by critics and players alike. Gameplay revolved around the main protagonist going on adventures to gather treasure and experience while battling creatures such as Orcs, Goblins and Dragons of mysterious lore. Players were able to craft their own stories through the decisions they made throughout the levels; both in terms of combat and plot. Players could customize their own party of adventurers with unique classes such as Barbarian, Druid and Wizard- with each kind having special abilities that enabled them to move further and deeper into the complex mazes of dungeons without succumbing to the monsters lying within. HeroQuest was one of the greatest commercial successes of its time; it was a revolutionary game that proved invaluable to many fans who were seeking a new type of adventure to keep them engaged. It pushed the boundaries of game design and, despite some of its shortcomings, still stands as a classic example of the heights that DOS gaming could reach.

Jetsons: The Computer Game

The famous Hanna-Barbera animated TV series spawned a movie and eventually this licensed game, which contains 8 levels that alternate between side-scrolling dodge-and-handle and driving gameplay. All four members of the Jetson family have a themed level. The driving sections take place inside George's Jetcar, and you must slow down in speed-limited areas and watch out for black holes. At the beginning of the game you are George Jetson, a worker at Spacely Space Sprockets in 2062. Your boss, Mr. Spacely, wants you to work, but you want to collect money and have fun. So after the boss's ordinary order you can explore the company as usual, collect banknotes and useful items, avoiding dangerous robotic mechanisms and Mr. Spacely himself. In the following levels, the other members of the Jetsons family must do the same, but in their own places. In level 2 you have to get Jane out of her house with traps, in level 3 Judy tries to get a kiss from the heartthrob Jet Screamer and finally Elroy is locked in the school and has to escape. You have to activate the hidden objects behind the trap doors with buttons. These allow you to advance to the next level, for example, to fix an elevator with a wrench. Time is short and you have to complete your mission quickly.
