Biggles

WE Johns' tales of a brave World War I pilot were updated for a 1980s feature film, with a plot involving Jim, the brother of Biggles living in that era. Jim travels back in time to warn Biggles of a spectacular weapon the Germans have created, with the intention of changing history, for the worse. The game is divided into two distinct games, the first of which is further divided into three sub-games. The first of these is a side-view flying game, in which you must shoot down and dodge Fokkers coming at you from the right of the screen in your rickety plane, with a machine gun and bombs on board. The second part is set in present-day London, and the characters must jump across a network of rooftops to obtain a secret code. There are guards to avoid, and large gaps between rooftops to negotiate. The third part is a Green Beret-inspired side-view game, with a gun to shoot at approaching enemies, gameplay on multiple vertical levels, and grenades to collect. If you lose a life in any of them, you'll run through them again. The second game, however, is a more serious flight simulation. A helicopter is transported back in time for our intrepid hero to use. You must first go to the allied camp to get the location of the secret weapon (and for this you will need the password from the first part of the game), and then head there to destroy it and save the world.

Clue: Master Detective

Clue: Master Detective is a classic detective-themed board game turned DOS game, released in 1989. Based on the popular board game Clue (also known as Cluedo), this computer version brings the iconic mystery-solving experience to your computer screen. Developed by Free Fall Associates and published by Leisure Genius, this game offers a challenging and immersive experience for players of all ages. The game follows the same premise as the board game where players take on the roles of suspects in a murder mystery. The game is set in a mansion, and players must move their characters around the game board to collect clues and solve the mystery. The game features six playable characters, each with their unique strengths and weaknesses, adding an element of strategy to the gameplay. What sets Clue: Master Detective apart from the original board game is its expanded game board and gameplay features. This version offers nine additional rooms, including a dungeon and a patio, bringing the total to 21 rooms, making the gameplay more challenging and unpredictable. It also has additional weapons, such as a crowbar and a poison-dart gun, adding more possibilities to the murder scenario. The game's graphics and sound effects, although simple by today's standards, were considered top-notch at the time of its release. Each character has their unique animation and voice recording, adding personality to the gameplay. The mansion's design is detailed and visually impressive, making players feel like they are genuinely exploring a luxurious mansion while trying to solve a murder. One of the most exciting features of Clue: Master Detective is its AI-controlled suspects. In this version, the suspects are not stationary like in the board game. Instead, they move around the mansion, making the mystery more challenging to solve. They may also pick up and drop items, adding an element of surprise to the gameplay. This feature adds more depth and complexity to the game, making it more entertaining and engaging. The game's replayability is also worth mentioning, as each time a player starts a new game, the clues and the murderer's identity are randomized. This feature ensures that each playthrough offers a different mystery to solve, making it an exciting and fresh experience every time. Players can also customize the game's difficulty settings, making it suitable for players of all skill levels.

Jinn Genie: Arabia Mania

The Golden City is run by the evil Ilfreet, who lives in an inner sanctum surrounded by guards. The problem is that the only man who has the magic to capture and hold Ilfreet is a sage who is being held in a dungeon deep within the inner sanctum. A hero is needed to help capture Ilfreet and free the city, and you are the hero needed for this mission. The game consists of four levels that combine shooting and platforming action with two difficulty levels and each level must be completed to succeed in your quest. You have five lives and if you touch any creature or guards you lose one. The four levels are: Level One: The first part of the game is a horizontal side-scrolling shooter with the screen scrolling from left to right constantly. You must fly on your magic carpet towards the Golden City, either avoiding the spirits flying in the air or destroying them with your fireball. To use the fireball, you hold down the fire button and can move it anywhere on the screen, but you cannot control the magic carpet. Once you reach the city you can land and your hero will enter. Level Two: You have found the outside of the inner sanctum and the only way to enter is through a window, but only one window allows you to enter. The level is a platformer and is shown on the entire screen. Between the columns of windows there are stairs and you must climb up and down them passing through all the windows until you find the right one. A cross appears if it is the wrong one and while searching you have to avoid touching any guard moving around the screen. Level 3: This level is another platformer that is shown all over the screen as you try to reach the entrance of the dungeon avoiding the guards but this time you can shoot them with a fireball. While trying to reach the entrance you have to light all the torches also in the four levels connected by steps. Level 4: This level is the same as level three but now you can see the prison holding the sage at the bottom of the screen. In addition to reaching his prison you have to find the key to open his door, as well as move a pot to his prison by pushing it. This pot is the only thing that can contain ilfreet.

Mean Streak

In the future, most people travel using Matter Transporters, but for the Rebels this is boring. They have taken over the abandoned orbital highway and turned it into the Combat Track. You take your motorcycle Mean Streak and you tear through this dangerous Mad Max-style world, aiming to traverse these rough isometric-view roads. You're armed, but so are the outcasts you must face. Hazards include walls, gaps in the road and oil slicks. A scanner at the bottom of the screen warns you in advance. You can pick up upgraded weaponry, extra fuel and crates of oil, which you can drop in the path of oncoming motorcycles. In addition to shooting at other motorcycles, you can crash them into the walls of the road or into the aforementioned hazards.

Special Delivery: Santa's Christmas Chaos

In the main, horizontally scrolling section, Santa Claus rides his sleigh and tries to collect the presents dropped by his helpers while avoiding clouds and mountains. The Red Devil's presents must be avoided. If enough are collected, Santa may land at a house to deliver the gifts personally. (If not, he can only drop them down chimneys as he flies). Going down the chimney means having to dodge the flames below and the snowballs above. Once inside the house, Santa can leave the presents under the Christmas tree, take the key to the door and leave. He fails if he wakes up any of the sleepwalking children running from room to room.

Yogi Bear

Yogi must travel through Jellystone Park to rescue his friend Boo-Boo, who has been kidnapped. He travels through 198 screens to reach him, collecting six candy apples along the way, which become a code that allows Boo-Boo to be rescued without his kidnapper making a fuss. The park scrolls sideways, with Yogi moving in and out of screens. It contains animals that can hurt you on contact, as well as black holes and water obstacles. Contact with the ranger or tourists is also forbidden. Yogi must watch his energy level, which is maintained by sweeping fish and collecting baskets. Boo-Boo must be rescued before he and Yogi have to hibernate for the winter.
