DragonStomper

DragonStomper is a video game in the role-playing (rpg) genre developed by Starpath Corporation and published by Starpath Corporation originally released in 1982. It is currently playable on Atari 2600.

DragonStomper stands out as the first role-playing game (RPG) released on a home video game console.

Long ago, a druid sorcerer created a powerful amulet capable of subduing dragons. On his way to the dragon's lair, the druid accidentally dropped the amulet, which fell into the depths of the dragon's lair. Eventually, the amulet gave the dragon cunning and power to spread treachery and evil in the peaceful kingdom. The player's adventure begins when the king summons him to defeat the dragon. Players must answer the call and first gather strength to become DragonStomper, fighting creatures in a magical land. Gather soldiers, buy magic scrolls, get medicines and elixirs and head to the dragon's lair. Armed with all his skills, training, equipment and soldiers, DragonStomper will descend into the dragon's lair for one last battle to bring peace to his kingdom.

Combat in the game is turn-based, and enemies appear randomly and can attack playable characters. Mercenaries join the party and can be controlled by the AI for combat. There are traps in many locations that must be discovered and avoided. Certain situations in the game can be approached in different ways and solutions to problems vary.
