Eiyū Shigan: Gal Act Heroism, also known as Hero Knight: Gal Act Heroism, is a Japanese role-playing game released for the SEGA Saturn in 1998. Developed by developer Fupac Corporation, this game offers a unique blend of fantasy, action, and romance in a fantastical world filled with magic and wonder.

Set in the fictional kingdom of Shonan, players take on the role of a young hero named Yuusha, who is tasked with saving the world from the evil forces of the Dark Dragon. Accompanied by a diverse and colorful cast of characters, Yuusha must navigate through treacherous dungeons, defeat powerful bosses, and unravel the mystery behind the Dark Dragon's rise to power.

One of the most notable aspects of Eiyū Shigan: Gal Act Heroism is its unique gameplay mechanics. Unlike many traditional RPGs, this game utilizes a combat system known as the "Battle not Battle" system. Players must time their attacks carefully, similar to a rhythm game, in order to execute powerful and stylish combos. This adds an extra layer of strategy and excitement to battles, making them more engaging and enjoyable.

In addition to its gameplay, Eiyū Shigan: Gal Act Heroism also boasts a stunning visual presentation. The SEGA Saturn's 2D capabilities are fully utilized, with beautifully hand-drawn backgrounds and detailed character sprites. The game's anime-inspired character designs are also a standout feature, adding to the game's overall charming and whimsical aesthetic.

But Eiyū Shigan: Gal Act Heroism is not just about battling monsters and saving the world. The game also offers a rich and engaging storyline filled with twists, turns, and unexpected romance. As players progress through the game, they will encounter various NPCs (non-player characters) who they can develop relationships with. These relationships not only add depth to the story but also affect the gameplay, as they can offer unique abilities and bonuses in battle.

With its engaging gameplay, beautiful graphics, and captivating story, it's no wonder that Eiyū Shigan: Gal Act Heroism was received positively by both critics and players alike. However, due to the SEGA Saturn's declining popularity and the game's limited release in Japan, it remains relatively unknown to many Western audiences. Nevertheless, Eiyū Shigan: Gal Act Heroism is a hidden gem that is worth discovering for any RPG fan.
