F1 Manager is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Software 2000 and published by Europress Software Ltd. originally released in 1996. It is currently playable on DOS.
F1 Manager was a DOS game released in 1996. It was a management game where the player took on the role of a Formula One team manager. The player was responsible for hiring drivers, designing cars, and managing the team's budget. The game featured realistic physics and data, and was endorsed by then-FIA president Max Mosley.
F1 Manager was developed by British studio Visual Science, and published by GameTek. The game's lead programmer was Geoff Crammond, who is best known for his work on the Grand Prix series of racing games. Crammond had previously worked on F1GP, which was released in 1992.
F1 Manager was released to positive reviews. Critics praised the game's depth and realism, and its attention to detail. Many also praised the game's intuitive interface and easy-to-use controls.
The game's commercial reception was less positive, however. It was a commercial failure, and was one of the factors that led to GameTek's bankruptcy in 1997. Despite its commercial failure, the game has since gained a cult following, and is considered one of the best management games ever made.
