Description Fighter Wing

A decent flight simulator from GemSoft that offers good graphics but not much realism or long-term gameplay value.

From the description at MobyGames: 'Fighter Wing is a flight simulator that, rather than concentrating on a single aircraft type, covers a wide range of flyable aircraft. You can play on either the NATO or Soviet side in a series of scenarios (there is no campaign mode) that take place in fictional situations (the president goes crazy and orders a massive attack, etc.). On the NATO side, you can pilot the F-4, F-15, F-16, F-18 and F-117. While on the Soviet side you have the MIG-21, 23, 29, 29, 31 and the SU-27. The graphics are fully three-dimensional, with polygonal aircraft shaded in gourad, with insignia and other details; clouds, smoke effects and terrain modeled on the real map are also present, and there is multiplayer support for up to 16 players'. Despite the good variety of aircraft and scenery, the game's longevity suffers from the lack of a career mode, although the multiplayer options help.

Overall, a mediocre flight simulator that doesn't offer much more than the variety of aircraft (most of which are the same). For a more polished and realistic execution of this idea of multiple planes in fictional scenarios, try Evasive Action instead.
