Fourth Encounter

Fourth Encounter is a video game in the action genre and published by Thorn EMI Video Ltd. originally released in 1983. It is currently playable on VIC-20.

Fourth Encounter is a fixed screen shoot 'em up for one or two players. As the title indicates, it consists of four stages with different enemies in each of them. They can be played all at once, or the player can choose any of them without completing the previous ones. The enemies in each phase have their own tactics to finish off the player. In the first wave the enemies try to collide with the player, while the aliens in the second and third phases shoot at the player. The player's ship can only move in the background and shoot at the enemies. The fourth stage is the most different from the others. Here the enemies follow the edges of the screen and shoot at the player, who can now move freely around the screen. In addition, it is also possible to shoot in two directions, both up and down. The player has five lives and the game ends when he loses them all. There are three different skill levels to choose from.
