Fred

Fred is a video game in the action genre developed by Incal Product and published by Ubi Soft Entertainment Software originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on Amiga, Atari ST.

Sir Fred was a brave and noble knight in love with a beautiful damsel, but the evil Ultimor, an ugly dwarf with magical powers, cast a spell on him and reduced him to his own size. Enemies laughed at him and other dwarves attacked him. What was he to do? Yes, he must find and defeat Ultimor, restore him to his size to be brave and noble enough, and win back his beauty.

The game runs in 2D side-scrolling mode, where you can use your sword, throw the daggers and avoid enemies. You can walk, jump and run, and you can do it not in a single plane. You can change the background, foreground and middle shots. You have to throw the daggers to eliminate enemies with ranged weapons as well as flying and hard to reach enemies. You have to collect different items such as keys, other daggers, etc.

There are various themed levels like forest, grotto, castle, etc. in the game. To finish the level you must find the key and advance with it to the entrance of the next level. Your energy is represented by apples, and you must also collect them. Sometimes a magic star appears in the level. You have to destroy it to eliminate all visible enemies. Magic potions are also different, either to give invincibility or to restore your energy.
