Galactic Attack

Galactic Attack is a video game in the action genre developed by Taito Corporation and published by CyberFront Corporation originally released in 1997. It is currently playable on Windows.

Galactic Attack is a top-down shooter with seven levels ranging from battles in a planet's atmosphere to battles on mountain ranges, with a classic giant boss at the end of each level. Players control a starfighter named RVA-818 X-LAY and their goal is to destroy all hostile forces.

The story is about the government of the Earth of the future coming together to build a giant supercomputer called Con-Human, which will power the planet and care for its ecology. However, a cloned human is connected to the system, turning the Con-Human into a sentient being. Eventually, the system goes haywire, causing natural disasters, exterminating almost all humans, destroying ecosystems, expelling survivors into space and developing colonies on other planets. The Con-Humans turn Earth into a giant fortress and form a huge fleet to destroy the remaining survivors before they can mount a pre-emptive strike to reclaim the planet.

The objective is to fly around the level and destroy the various enemies flying around the screen with the lasers of the main weapon. The weapon can be upgraded by collecting the 'L' icons that float up when enough enemies are destroyed. There is also a secondary weapon, a lock-on missile launcher, which can shoot eight ground enemies at once.
