Gladiators

Gladiators is a video game in the action genre and published by Summit Software originally released in 1993. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

You are the best helicopter pilot in existence and because of your heroics you are now part of the Gladiator Squadron. Your job is to patrol unconquered lands to keep the peace. One day, while patrolling eight small islands, you receive a distress call. To secure these strategically important islands, you must enter and destroy the enemy so that the ground forces can enter.

To stop you in your tracks are many enemy vehicles such as helicopters, planes, trucks and ships. You also have to destroy buildings, bridges and planes on the airfields. To help you in your mission you can collect power-ups that improve your weapon, your damage meter or your score.

Gladiators is a 1 or 2 player horizontal scrolling shooter. The joystick is used to control your helicopter and the fire button to fire your weapon. On the screen you can also see your score, lives and the all-important damage meter. In a 2-player game, both players take turns when a life is lost to play the game.
