The sequel to Laser Hawk takes a broader view of the universe. Your objective is to take over various hostile planets, such as the green Xavier and the militaristic Cytron.
The gameplay is also more expansive, as the side view of its predecessor has been dropped. There are two distinct play styles. First, you must fly around the screen Xevious-style, destroying the force field towards the end of the level (if you fail, you must replay the entire level). You must face waves of enemies and ground facilities. There are many hidden targets to shoot at; these drop white flags that, when collected, grant extra lives, a short-lived shield or a point bonus.
Once you reach an accessible base, you must enter it on foot, in a section with gameplay similar to Gauntlet. Keys, weapons and bonus items are hidden in hatches in the wall, which are activated by touching them (although most are empty). Traversing the walls (using a weapon other than the main weapon) is a big part of the progression in them.
