Heliot is a fixed-screen shooter set in the Prohibition era. The player controls a gunman who appears to be a gangster, walking left and right across the screen and shooting enemies on top of him. The enemies are represented by icons of period objects (guns, beer steins, cars, etc. ) and move back and forth in a certain pattern, dropping bullets that the player character must avoid. The movement pattern differs according to the type of enemy. The player loses one life when attacked, and the game ends when all four lives are used up. Lives are increased by one life for every 2,000 points. Before starting the game, players can choose from five difficulty levels.
