Description Interpose

Interpose is a nice and very fluid VGA shooter that boasts a very high production value for a shareware game (similar to all other Webfoot games). The storyline, while not really necessary, is interesting because you play as an 'overlynx' (a sentient lynx) who must fight the evil humans who are invading Earth, his home ;).

Besides the fun side-scrolling mayhem where you simply shoot everything in sight, Interpose features cute cartoon scenes that advance the plot between levels, as well as excellent sound effects and music. The backgrounds are well designed and give a good sense of depth, although the weapons and power-ups are not as creative or varied as, for example, in Gradius. However, to compensate for this, the game contains 23 levels (albeit with 5-6 sets of stages), so even joystick veterans will take quite a while to finish it.

With very smooth graphics (over 70 fps), fun cartoon scenes and a nice finish, Interpose is one of the best shareware games that every shooter fan should try, although it is not as memorable as more popular shareware shooters, such as Tyrian.
