Kaeon is a little SHMUP that was never finished, with only three short levels, mediocre graphics and extreme difficulty. It's a shame, though, because it had potential: five parallel backgrounds were quite a rarity on a PC in 1992. Instead of the usual predefined levels, the difficulty could be set by variables such as the effects of collisions with walls on the ship and the frequency of enemy shots: if you wanted to, you could be invincible. The bosses, while graphically crappy like the rest, are well done, with plenty of parts to destroy before they succumb.
Overall, Kaeon feels like an 'embryo': had it been taken all the way through development, the result could have been a good game. For diehard SHMUPS collectors only.
