Mani Pulite is a video game in the action genre developed by DoubleByte and published by DoubleByte originally released in 1993. It is currently playable on Amiga.
Mani Pulite (Italian for 'clean hands') was the official name of the judicial investigation into political corruption in Italy that led to the 'Tangentopoli' ('Bribesville') scandal and the dissolution of many political parties of the time.
In contrast to the seriousness of 'Il grande gioco di Tangentopoli', 'Mani Pulite' is a purely satirical approach to the subject, placing cartoons like 'Spit Image' in a traditional Es platform game. Players control Umberto Bossi, the country's most vociferous opponent of corruption at the time, a senator, here depicted in shining armor and a flaming sword. Players venture through a fixed screen infested with creatures with the heads of politicians of the time. Most of the creatures can be attacked by shooting fireballs, and some drop sacks of gold that must be collected under the guise of 'reducing the degree of corruption'. At the end of each level, a boss appears, also inspired by a famous Italian politician, who drops a large bribe upon defeat.
The game had a very limited release in 1993, sold only by developer DoubleByte and in select Italian stores.
