Märchen Veil I

Märchen Veil I is a video game in the action genre developed by System Sacom and published by System Sacom originally released in 1985. It is currently playable on PC-88.

The inhabitants of a world called Felix communicate with the gods to divine their future. The king of the Forest Country seeks a husband for his daughter and organizes a tournament for young nobles from different countries. The prince of the Lake Country emerges victorious, but an evil wizard turns him into a strange-looking creature and banishes him to distant lands. The prince has to travel back and find a way to remove the curse.

Märchen Veil I is an action game with light RPG elements. The game consists of labyrinthine stages heavily populated with enemies. The prince has to fight his way through using ranged magic, which turns the game into a shooter. The magic attack can have different properties depending on the special items the prince collects. Throughout the game, the player will also encounter items that permanently restore or increase the protagonist's health. Fixed-screen cutscenes (called 'visual stages') advance the story between levels.
