MASK

MASK is a video game in the action genre developed by Gremlin Graphics Software Limited and published by Gremlin Graphics Software Limited originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC.

MASK is a game based on a popular animated television series from the mid-1980s. In addition to the television series, titled M. A. S. K. , an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, there was also a series of books, written by Kenneth Harper and illustrated by Bruce Hogarth, and comic books. A new line of toys was produced to accompany each television series.

All of the stories centered on the M. A. S. K. organization, led by the intrepid Matt Tracker. M. A. S. S. K. agents wear helmets or MASKs to protect their identity and endow them with superpowers that help them in their fight against the criminal organization V. E. N. O. M. They drive super-powered vehicles that can transform.
V. E. E. N. O. M. aka Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem, are the bad guys. They are the work of Miles Mayhem, Matt's former friend and co-founder of MASK, who betrayed Matt long ago.

The game consists of four areas and in all of them Matt must drive his Thunderhawk vehicle through the game area, avoiding armored vehicles and V. E. N. O. M. tanks while performing tasks in a specific order.
In Area 1: Boulder Hill, your first task is to retrieve your own MASK and later a kidnapped agent. However, it is not simply a matter of driving to find the agent. Matt must first and pick up a scanner that will point him to the missing agent (who will be hiding). However, the agent cannot be picked up until his MASK has been collected and the scanner will not work until all four pieces of the security key have been collected and assembled. Objects, including bombs, are collected by stepping over them. Bombs are Matt's only weapon against the V. E. N. N. O. M. tanks and, like bombs, will damage Matt and his vehicle if he is too close to the explosion.

The rest of the game consists of three more areas, Prehistory, Far Future and VENOM Base, each of which has two kidnapped agents to rescue.
