MicroLink Yaht

MicroLink Yaht is a video game in the strategy genre developed by MicroLink and published by MicroLink originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on DOS.

Between 1987 and 1990, Bob Lancaster wrote 6 games that he released under the name 'MicroLink', a PC user group to which he belonged. All the games feature simple ASCII character graphics, but their excellent gameplay and variety of options make them stand the test of time.

MicroLink's first game, ML Yaht, remains to this day one of the best computerized versions of the Yahtzee dice game ever made. As in the real Milton Bradley game, players (up to 6 can compete in this game, any one of which can be controlled by the computer) roll five dice trying to get certain combinations for their score card. Players may reroll any of the five dice twice after the first roll. (They can also choose to stop rolling at any time before that). Deciding where to put a score can be as important as actually rolling a certain combination. If you roll especially well, you can get extra points.

The combination of luck and strategy that characterizes the board game is intact in ML Yaht. The game even supports the use of the mouse, a rarity in 1987! If you like dice games, ML Yaht is a must-play game - two thumbs up!
