Mission A.D.

Mission A.D. is a video game in the action genre and published by Odin Computer Graphics Ltd. originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Earth is in trouble once again after small attacks against our planet and scientists have predicted that there will be a final big attack that will totally destroy us. The scientists have devised a plan called Mission A.D. in which all countries will unite their defense systems and give financial aid to the plan. All countries agree except one, Silesia, whose head of state, General Offisrokka, condemns the plan as a capitalist plan to take over his country. Assassins hired by the general have been sent to the bunker where plans are being drawn up to kill the scientists.

The player takes on the role of super assassin Rik O'Shey, who has been sent to the bunker to eliminate all the assassins in this side-screen shooter game in various missions within a time limit. The bunker itself is composed of eight areas connected by conveyors and each screen in the areas is composed of two levels which are connected by elevators to move from the upper and lower floor. You are armed with a pistol and you must search each area for a set number of assassins that you are told before you start each mission.

The main problem you have, apart from the assassins themselves, is the panic created by the guard droids and the guards themselves who run around shooting everything that moves, including yourself. You must shoot or avoid them in your quest because if you are shot or touched you lose part of your energy bar and when it reaches zero you lose one of your three lives. If time runs out during a mission, you also lose a life. When you have searched an area, you can transport to another area with the transporter, and when you enter it you can select the next area and see a small map showing the location of the assassins.

Once you have completed the mission, you move on to the next one, which is the same as the previous one, but with more assassins to kill. In addition to the main game area, you can see your lives, the energy bar, the time bar, the score, the appearance of the assassins and a small map.
