Outburst

Outburst is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Engineering Animation Inc. and published by Hasbro Interactive, Inc. originally released in 1998. It is currently playable on Windows.

Outburst is a thematic game played in seven rounds. It can be played alone or in teams. The basic idea is that you and your team guess as many pre-determined 'target answers' as possible. If you answer correctly, you get points. The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.

In the first two rounds, the game is played by guessing a predetermined 'target' (called a regular burst); in the third round, the target answer is revealed, but the topic is guessed in a reverse burst. The fifth round is Sloppy Seconds or Challenge Clock. In Sloppy Seconds, the first team to play (the losing team) must guess as many target answers as possible in 30 seconds. The second team then has the opportunity to guess the rest of the answers in 30 seconds. The challenge clock starts with the losing team guessing 5 of the 10 target answers in 60 seconds; the second team does the same with a different topic; the team with the most answers out of 5, or the fastest, is the winner of that round. The sixth round is a shout-out flurry, with 10 choice questions on a particular topic. The final round, round 7, is a Mondo blast.
