Pathway to Glory is a tactical role-playing game (RPG) set in the midst of World War II. Players assume the role of an Allied army commander who is tasked with eliminating and battling enemies in order to ultimately seize victory. Released in 2004, it was the first game launched for the N-Gage mobile gaming platform.
The premise of Pathway to Glory revolves around leading an army of allied powers called the “Pathway Special Unit”, as they travel through the war-torn European theater in search of glory. Players command characters in real-time, tactical combat scenarios that span 15 stages, each presenting special objectives which need to be achieved in order to progress. Within each stage, various combo related objectives can be achieved, such as killing multiple enemies in rapid succession or completely depleting a squad’s HP bar to gain access to more special items and rewards.
At its core, Pathway to Glory is about strategic thinking and strategic gaming. Gamers must be judicious in their battle plans and consider the various terrains, enemy troops, and available resources when making decisions. Realistic map elements are also included in the game, such as weather effects, morale, terrain, and a full day and night cycle. This draws the player further into the strategic and tactical depth of the game, creating an unparalleled war-simulation experience.
