Pleins Gaz was a strategy game which featured gameplay where players traverse the world map in their set of ships in search of enemy vessels that must be sunk. They must also complete various missions, upgrade their ship, collect money, and accumulate points. The goal is to reach the end of the game with the highest score.
The game was beautifully rendered in 16-color EGA graphics, which allowed players to view the sea in full color. It also featured realistic sound effects, including ship gunshots, explosions, and gull cries. Pleins Gaz also had both a campaign and a tournament mode, which offered plenty of replayability.
Gameplay was fairly straightforward, but still quite challenging. Navigation was handled using the ship's compass and the direction and speed of the wind indicated by bar graphs. Battles with enemy ships required players to accurately aim their cannons by adjusting the angle and power of the shots.
