Meteor Rescue

DOS 1996
Meteor Rescue is a single-player, keyboard-controlled game that is very similar to Meteor Mission and may well be a later version of that game. Once again, some poor astronauts have been marooned on a desolate planetoid. Your job is to pick them up and bring them home. This is a game of two halves. In the first half, the player's ship is held in a sort of cage in the dropship that moves left/right across the top of the screen. As soon as the main engines start up, the floor of the cage retracts and the ship begins its descent. Timing is important, as the space between the ship and the landing pads contains orbiting rocks to avoid. Once the spacecraft has landed, the astronaut climbs aboard and the spacecraft begins its ascent. The ascent rate can be increased, but not decreased, so there is no hiding at the bottom of the screen until the orbiting rocks are out of the way. Fortunately, the ship has a cannon that only works during the ascent phase, which can be used to shoot the rocks for extra points and reach the descending ship. All the player has to do now is avoid the rocks and dock with the descent ship by re-entering the cage. As an added complication, the dropship keeps moving from side to side and stops at a random location each time. The player has five lives with which to accumulate the highest score possible. Once all the astronauts are rescued, there is a brief fanfare and the game begins the next level with a new set of astronauts and more obstacles. Landing too fast, colliding with a flying rock, colliding with the drop ship, driving past the drop ship, trying to maneuver inside the drop ship all destroy the player's ship and cost a life.

Scud Attack

DOS 1998
In Scud Attack you are in command of the great defensive power of a linked network of three Patriot ABM batteries, charged with defending your cities against the threat of Scud ballistic missiles. The Scud missiles will arrive in separate waves, one after the other, each one more threatening than the last. For each wave you have 45 Patriot missiles (distributed among the three bases for safety and redundancy) to repel the incoming Scuds. Your job is to target the Scuds and knock them out of the sky before their deadly warheads reach your precious cities. At the end of each wave of Scud Attack you will receive bonus points based on how many cities you have successfully defended and how many Patriot missiles you have left over. Those Patriots are expensive, so use them wisely! The Patriot missiles coming out of each of the bases are not quite identical. The missiles from the center base are faster than those from the outer bases. When you use either mouse button to fire a missile, the computer will make an instant decision on which missile base to use. This may work well for the first few waves, but later on you will probably need to control which base is firing by using the 1, 2, 3 keys instead, to get maximum defensive effectiveness from the missiles. If you fail to destroy a falling Scud missile, there is still a chance that it will fall harmlessly in the field between your cities. However, if a Scud missile hits one of your cities, it will destroy that city and all its innocent inhabitants. If a Scud missile hits one of your Patriot missile bases, it will destroy all the missiles in that base. It will not be replenished until the next wave of attack. When all your cities have been bombed, the game is over. See below for how to win a bonus city. Official PLBM website: http://www. plbm. com/.

Spaced-Out Invaders

DOS 1995
Shoot all the invaders while hiding behind bunkers to protect yourself. Each time you shoot all the invaders in an attack wave, a new attack wave will appear. Each new wave has slightly faster invaders, and they get closer and closer to your planet. If any aliens touch your planet, you have been INVADED, and you lose the game at that point. Saucers appear from time to time and can have VERY high score values, depending on your ability to shoot them. Remember how the original game did it?:) Don't get too distracted by shooting at the saucers. . . Some higher attack waves will bombard your planet's visual sensors and make it difficult for you to see the Invaders. Be careful. Official PLBM website: http://www. plbm. com/.
