Star Breaker
In the future, mankind has learned to navigate in spaceships. Humans are spread out on different planets of the Milky Way. The hero of the game is a young pilot named Harry. He was testing the latest model of spaceship, but it crashed on Menaris, a planet on the outskirts of the solar system Eva, with a medieval-type civilization. It turns out that repairing the ship will be far from easy, so Harry decides to stay for a while and help the inhabitants of Menaris with their problems, which have to do with the overly ambitious Doran Empire. With the help of Aria, princess of Menaris, Harry must discover the truth about Doran's intentions, and when he finds out, he realizes that he will not use the repaired ship to return home, but will have to face something that threatens the entire galaxy.
Star Breaker is a fairly traditional Japanese RPG, with overhead view, world map navigation, random turn-based battles and all the other usual ingredients. Battles can be set to automatic to speed up the pace. Since the game's setting is a mix of sci-fi and medieval fantasy, characters use a variety of weapons, from swords to guns, as well as special psychic attacks. There is also some spaceship combat in the game, and it is possible to upgrade the player's ship later on.
Startling Odyssey II: Maryū Sensō
A mad scientist named Dr. Killbait has managed to resurrect one of the eight ancient dragons, endangering the country of Hyneld. The captain of the king's knights, Robin Solford, witnesses the dragon's attack on the castle. His two companions are killed and Princess Patricia, Robin's adopted sister, is nowhere to be seen. Robin is determined to find Patricia and stop Dr. Killbait, and begins to wander the world, hoping to find friends to help him on his perilous journey.
Startling Odyssey II: Maryū Sensō is not a sequel, but a prequel to the first game, with Robin Solford being the father of the hero of the previous game. The game is set in a predominantly medieval fantasy-themed world with a touch of science fiction, and plays like a traditional Japanese RPG. The player navigates a group of characters through a top-down world, visiting cities and dungeon areas. Enemies are encountered randomly. Battles are viewed from an isometric perspective, with an 'automatic' option to speed up combat.
Characters join the game as the plot dictates; the game will eventually contain four active combatants. Each character has their own sets of offensive, support or healing spells, which are automatically learned as the character levels up. The game features full-screen anime-style cutscenes and voice acting during important events.
