Centurions: Power X Treme

The Centurions are Ace McCloud, Jake Rockwell and Max Ray. They must fight Doc Terror's forces to stop his attempts to infiltrate the Weapons Development Center and flee with a large supply of Tyron Dichromate, a chemical used in nuclear fusion. With their exo-fronts, they enter the complex and wipe out Doc Terrors' henchmen. The game is in the style of Gauntlet and takes place in a three-level multi-directional scrolling maze. You start as a scout droid, but as you pass through sea, air or land you transform into Ace, Jake or Roy. Killing a certain amount of enemies allows you to upgrade your weapon. To move through the maze and through the different levels you must collect six master key segments to move through the different corridors. The keys are located on a panel surrounded by sea, air or land. You have to switch between the different Centurions to cross the area and retrieve the key. Buckle up and make sure Doc Terror doesn't succeed. You won't want to go back to the workplace.

Challenge of the Gobots

Challenge of the Gobots, released in 1987 for the Commodore 64, is an intriguing blend of action and strategy that captures the essence of the popular animated series. Based on the Gobots toy line, the game invites players into a world filled with mechanized beings known as Gobots, who can transform between vehicle and robot forms. The gameplay strikingly highlights the charm of the original franchise while attempting to deliver a captivating experience for the audience of its time. In Challenge of the Gobots, players take on the role of either the heroic Guardians or the malevolent Renegades, each possessing unique abilities and attributes. The objective revolves around completing a series of missions to thwart the plans of the opposing faction. Players must navigate labyrinthine levels, battling enemies and collecting power-ups to enhance their capabilities. The ability to transform into vehicles adds a layer of strategy, as players decide when to embrace their robotic form or exploit the speed of their vehicle guise. The game’s graphics, while limited by the technology of the era, exhibit a certain charm that resonates with nostalgia. Bright and vibrant colors help bring the Gobots to life, and the character designs capture the essence of their animated counterparts. The sound design, with catchy tunes and engaging sound effects, echoes the excitement of the show, drawing players deeper into the virtual conflict. Despite its rudimentary aesthetic, players often found themselves enchanted by the energetic presentation, which complemented the iterative gameplay. While Challenge of the Gobots may not hold the same stature as other contemporaneous games, it boasts a unique attribute: the ability to foster a sense of attachment to the Gobots universe. The missions, although repetitive, are structured in a way that encourages players to improve their skills and delve into the lore behind these mechanical beings. This element of exploration and connection adds a layer of depth, allowing for immersive experiences that extend beyond mere gameplay. Critics of the time noted the straightforward nature of its mechanics and the reliance on level repetition. However, the game’s charm lies in its unwavering dedication to being a celebration of the Gobots legacy. For fans of the franchise and newcomers alike, the title offers a taste of what made the Gobots a cultural phenomenon. With its combination of engaging visuals, nostalgic sounds, and iconic characters, Challenge of the Gobots remains a delightful relic of the golden age of video gaming, inviting players to relive the excitement of the 1980s.

Deadringer

Deadringer is a first-person perspective racing game set in the future where you have to drive an armored skimmer in a ring made up of several parts to survive and compete against other competitors. The ring is made up of four parts with an inner and outer edge, the outer being the most dangerous to drive, but competitors can drive anywhere they wish. A timer counts down and you have to stay on the track when it reaches zero to win the race. As you drive various objects such as walls, gates and mines appear, as well as the other competitors, but you are armed with a cannon that shoots forward and follows the ring. You can take a lot of hits, but if you hit an object you lose one of your three lives. A warp gate also appears that moves you to another part of the track.

Kolonialmacht

Kolonialmacht is a multiplayer strategy game set in 1884 Africa. In the course of a restricted number of months, three colonial powers try to gain military and economic leadership. One of the most important aspects are the mines and plantations that produce the game's four resources: cocoa, tobacco, diamonds and gold. These can be sold for money or exchanged for another of the four resources. After each round the market prices change, so the key to success is to anticipate which resource to concentrate on. Military troops are used to proceed against enemies, either directly against their units or by conquering their assets.

Mountie Mick's Deathride

Mountie Mick's Deathride is a platform game in which the player takes on the role of Mountie Mick, who has to stop bandits from robbing nine trains. The screen automatically scrolls from right to left, which means he has to keep moving until he reaches the front of the train. Then you get on a wheelbarrow to move to the next level. There are many obstacles along the way, for example, jumps between wagons, gas leaks or dark tunnels. Gas masks and collected torches help to survive the latter two. However, most of the time Mick has to deal with the bandits themselves. These try to kill him, but this can be avoided by dodging bullets, shooting back or jumping on their heads. In addition, both sides have grenades at their disposal.

Out of this World

You are a test pilot of the experimental RP2-16 fighter and, while flying the ship, strange flashing lights appear and, before you know it, you are flying over a strange world. Your mission now is to fly through eight levels, destroying as many aliens as you can to escape this strange world. The game is a horizontal side view scrolling game that scrolls left or right. You must shoot waves of aliens and when you have shot enough then an E floats around and when you collect it you move on to the next level. If you touch an alien ship, you lose one of six lives. As you shoot the aliens, some will drop a disc that you can use to get better weapons; if you collect enough of the same color, you will be able to shoot the better weapon for a limited time. Between each level there is an interval in which you must explode or avoid the objects flying towards you for a period of time and, if you survive, you pass to the next level.
