Push-Over

Push-Over is a video game in the action genre developed by Red Rat Software Ltd and published by Ocean Software Ltd. originally released in 1992. It is currently playable on DOS, Amiga, Atari ST.

You play a little ant who is willing to help a friend in a rather awkward situation. Apparently, the Quavers' mascot, Colin Curly, likes his Quavers so much that he's lost his balance and dropped them down a giant anthill. Now it's your job to go in, on a mission to solve puzzles and retrieve the snacks for your friend.

Now, this anthill is a little different from the ones you've seen, and especially from the one you live in. Your path is full of dominoes and locked doors that you must go through to find the snacks. You'll have to traverse different themed worlds to retrieve Colin's precious Quavers.

The main gameplay consists of controlling the ant from a standard third-person platformer perspective and moving the dominoes to place them in a well-imagined line, so that when you push the right one, they all fall with a specifically marked domino last. Otherwise, the door will remain closed and you will not be able to move forward. Also, your ant cannot fall from too high or it will die and make you restart the level.

Each domino has its own mark. For example, the yellow ones are the ones that you simply push in one direction to push the one next to you, almost always in a chain reaction. Red ones, on the other hand, cannot be pushed at all (but can be moved) and tiles that hit them will fall in the opposite direction. Other types of tiles are those that explode when pushed or hit by another tile, clearing the way for other tiles; those that keep moving forward until they hit another tile; those that create a bridge over a gap; or those that move in a straight line and stick to the ceiling, pushing a tile next to it.

Each level is timed and requires mental quickness to complete successfully. Upon completing a level, the player is given a password that can be used to resume the game at the level where they last left off.

The SNES version does not have the Quavers brand and consists of retrieving money drops for a rat character.
