Remote Control

Remote Control is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Softie, Inc. and published by Hi-Tech Expressions, Inc. originally released in 1989. It is currently playable on DOS, Commodore 64.

Remote Control is based on the MTV game show of the same name. During the game, three contestants (computer or human controlled) compete by answering questions about various TV shows, movies, characters or actors/actresses. There are two rounds of play followed by a third round of 'think very fast'.

In the first two rounds of play, the board consists of a giant television set with nine channels; one of the players chooses a channel (representing a particular category) and reveals a question; the first player to answer correctly wins points. There are a variety of categories available (some of them are 'video high', 'cop shows', 'saturday night live', 'soap operas', and many more) that will vary from game to game. Sometimes a surprise channel may appear that does not have a question, but awards or deducts points to a player. These rounds end when all the questions provided have been exhausted. Near the end of the second round, the player with the lowest score is eliminated from the game leaving two players for the final round.

The final 'think very fast' round lasts thirty seconds; during this time players have to answer as many short answer questions as possible to score points. At the end of this round, the player with the most points wins the game.
