Road to Moscow

Road to Moscow is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Ba'rac Limited and published by Ba'rac Limited originally released in 1984. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Road to Moscow is a strategy war game in which you take the role of the German army trying to take Russia on the Eastern Front in World War II. The computer takes the role of the Russian army. The game covers the entire Eastern Front from Finland to Crimea with the East at the top of the screen so you have to move your Army up. There are 10 skill levels (0 - 9) and you can play a full campaign starting in 1941 or play four individual campaigns which are 1941 - Invasion, 1942 - 2nd Offensive, 1943 - Russian Offensive and 1944 - Battle for Poland. Each campaign lasts one year and you have two moves per month.

The idea is to move your units to other parts of the map, once you are happy with your choices the computer calculates the distance the units would have moved taking into account the weather and terrain. Any enemy units along the way will fight the other unit until it is defeated, surrenders or retreats. The thing to keep in mind when moving is not to move too far away from your supply lines, as these will render your units useless. Terrain and weather play an important factor, as do Russian attacks. Try to complete your campaigns before the Russian winter arrives and the Russians build up overwhelming forces.

The objective of the entire campaign is to make the Russians surrender Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad and everything west of them. The game is seen in a small part of the map from above with the units shown as icons.
