Shadow Blasters

Shadow Blasters is a video game in the action genre developed by Cyclone System and published by Sage's Creation, Inc. originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on Genesis.

The humans on Earth have lost their righteous ways. After seeing this happen, the Gods have decided to abandon the Earthlings and stop protecting them. Ashura, the king of an alien race from the Evil World, decides that this is the perfect time to attack the vulnerable and unprotected Earth. It so happens that one of the good gods, Hyperion, takes pity on the humans and decides to grant his power to four of the strongest Earth warriors to go and defeat Ashura and his minions.

The player takes control of these four warriors, who are Leo, a fencer, Marco, a monk, and Horatio and Tiffany, who are ninjas (one male and one female). Each character fires his or her own type of weapon and each character can charge his or her weapon to make it more powerful. All characters also have a special weapon that can eliminate all enemies on the screen, but with the caveat that it can only be used once per phase. Each character also has a jump and speed attribute that, when boosted, allows them to jump higher and walk faster. Players can switch between all characters during a phase.

The game has 9 different phases. The player can play the first six (mountain, harbor, street, future, glen and forest) in any order. Each round ends with a boss that must be defeated to beat that round.
