Solo Flight: 2nd Edition

Solo Flight: 2nd Edition is a video game in the simulation genre and published by U.S. Gold Ltd. originally released in 1985. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Solo Flight: 2nd Edition is a new version of the original Solo Flight simulator and once again allows you to fly a small plane, the Ryan ST-A with a new look cockpit instrument panel. At the beginning of the game you have two options, fly the plane for practice or fly the plane for a mail trip. You can choose from six American states to fly (instead of three in the original) which are Kansas, Washington, Colorado, Colorado, Michigan, Massachusetts or Texas, each with its own weather and terrain. The game's point of view is a third-person perspective behind the plane, again with the joystick and keyboard to control your plane. The game also includes voice to help you fly by giving you instructions as you fly.

In Mail Run you are tasked with delivering mail from your home runway to another airport or multiple airports. There are four difficulty levels (Student, Private, Senior or Command). Before your flight you must refuel your aircraft taking into account the weight of the aircraft and you can decide how many airports you want to fly to.

In the practice flight you have 4 difficulty levels (Clear, Landing, Contest or IFR). Clear allows you to fly in good weather, Landing is to practice landing, Contest gives you a score for your landings and IFR is to fly in low level clouds with zero visibility so you can only rely on your instrument panel. You can also fly day or night.

In the real flying part you sit on a runway and with the keyboard and joystick you take off into the sky and with the joystick you control the aircraft. A map can be displayed to make sure you are heading in the right direction. Once you have reached another airport you can land.
