Description Space Trap
Space Trap is a classic Atari 8-bit game, originally released in 1981 for the Atari 400/800 computers and later released on Atari XEGS in 1987. It is a single player game and was developed and designed by Jeff Goldstein.
The aim of the game is to navigate your ship from the left side of the screen to the right, while navigating obstacles. Your ship will bounces across the top and bottom of the screen, giving you the opportunity to move in a diagonal direction. You must avoid both the stationary and moving objects that appear on the screen as this will destroy your ship. In order to progress to the next level, you must correctly maneuver your ship around the obstacles.
Space Trap also offers a bonus mode which is activated when the player collects three coins or gems in the game. Once activated, the player is able to access the bonus stage, where the aim is to collect as many coins and gems as possible. As the player progresses, the speed of the game increases and the shapes and movement of the obstacles vary. Furthermore, there are four difficulty levels in Space Trap: easy, medium, hard and hardest.
With its 8-bit graphics combined with its easy to learn principles, Space Trap offers an enjoyable and timeless challenge. Also, as the game was originally released in 1981, it is considered as a classic Atari game and still provides a great level of entertainment.
The game is compatible with the Atari 800, 400, and XEGS systems, as well as many emulators such as Altirra. It is also widely available on emulation sites.
