Super Dragon Slayer

Super Dragon Slayer is a video game in the action genre developed by Codemasters and published by Codemasters originally released in 1988. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

What does a brave wizard do when the princess is kidnapped? Well usually nothing, as we have brave knights to save her, but not this time. The mighty dragon is holding the princess captive in his lair and our brave wizard must rescue her by fighting hordes of evil minions in 4 levels of this almost forgotten game.

The gameplay is a classic side-scrolling shoot 'em up. Enemies come in predetermined patterns and never attack you directly. They are just there for you to avoid or shoot them.

Shooting enemies gives you points, but also accumulates your magic points. When you collect enough magic points you will get a spell to cast. These spells are really useful and a lot of fun to use. There is a bomb spell that kills everything on the screen and a 'frog' spell that lets you jump a big hole. Some spells change depending on the level of the game you are playing.

Speaking of holes, you must remember that in this game holes are your biggest enemies. Most of the time the trick is to find a suitable place to jump from. You only have one life, you can get an extra life when you kill enough enemies, but one wrong step and you're in the hole and you're dead. The extra life doesn't count for the holes.
