Tennis is a video game in the sports genre developed by The Image Producers, Inc. and published by Tandy Corporation originally released in 1981. It is currently playable on TRS-80 CoCo.
In 1981, the TRS-80 Color Computer, or CoCo, was making waves in the world of gaming with its release of the classic game, Tennis. Developed by Steve Bjork, this game quickly became a favorite among CoCo users and helped establish the platform as a serious contender in the gaming industry.
Tennis was a simple, yet addictive game that allowed players to take on the role of a professional tennis player. With stunning graphics and smooth gameplay, this game provided a realistic and immersive experience for players. The graphics, although limited by the technology of the time, were highly praised for their attention to detail and vibrant color palette.
The gameplay of Tennis was also top-notch, with players being able to control the movement of their character and the direction of their shots with ease. As the game progressed, players faced increasingly challenging opponents, making every match a nail-biting and exhilarating experience. The smoothness of the gameplay was a testament to the skill and dedication of Bjork, who was able to create such a well-crafted game on the limitations of the CoCo platform.
One of the most unique features of Tennis was its multiplayer mode. CoCo users could connect their systems and play against each other, adding a competitive element to the game. This feature was groundbreaking at the time and set the CoCo apart from other gaming platforms. It also contributed to the game's longevity, as players could continue to challenge their friends and family for hours on end.
Aside from the gameplay, Tennis also had a well-developed sound department. The game featured a catchy soundtrack and sound effects that added to the overall immersive experience. It was clear that Bjork put a lot of thought and effort into every aspect of the game, making it a well-rounded and polished product.
