The Games: Winter Challenge

The Games: Winter Challenge is a video game in the action genre developed by MindSpan and published by Accolade, Inc. originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on DOS, Genesis.

An Olympic game that simulates the usual competitions of the winter games: downhill, giant slalom, luge, two-man bobsled, ski jumping, cross country, biathlon and speed skating.

The game features a basic 3D engine that allows you to simulate slopes with ease, which improves the playability of some events such as Downhill. Gameplay, as expected in a winter sports game, is based on finding the fastest trajectories in most events (Downhill, Giant Slalom, Luge and Bobsled), pacing the race correctly (Cross Country and Biathlon), skill and timing (Ski Jumping), and mashing the buttons reserved for one (Speed Skating). The player (up to ten) can select his or her competitor's face and nationality from one of 16 possible options, and by selecting different difficulty settings, different computer-controlled athletes participate in the competition alongside the player.
