Triad is a classic game that was released for the VIC-20 in 1982. Developed by SoftSide Publications, this game quickly became a hit among gamers of all ages. The game revolves around three colored triangles that must be lined up in order to score points. It may sound simple, but don't be fooled, Triad is a game that requires skill, strategy, and quick reflexes to master.
One of the most appealing aspects of Triad is its simple yet engaging gameplay. The goal of the game is to rotate the triangles to match three of the same color in a row. The catch is that they must be rotated in a specific direction, adding a layer of challenge and complexity to the game. As players progress through the levels, the speed of the rotation increases, making it even more challenging to match the triangles.
In addition to its gameplay, Triad also boasts impressive graphics for its time. The triangles are vibrant and colorful, and the background changes as players advance to higher levels, keeping the game visually stimulating. The game also features a catchy soundtrack that adds to the overall gaming experience.
One of the most impressive features of Triad is its ability to cater to players of all skill levels. Beginners can start with the easy mode, where the rotation speed is slower, and the color combinations are simpler. As players improve and master the game, they can switch to the more challenging modes, where the rotation speed is faster, and the color combinations are more complex. This feature allows the game to be enjoyed by both casual and hardcore gamers alike.
Triad also has a multiplayer mode, making it a perfect game for friends and family to play together. Players can compete against each other in real-time, making for a fun and exciting gaming experience. This multiplayer feature was ahead of its time and contributed to the game's overall success and popularity.
Despite being over 30 years old, Triad still has a loyal following of fans who continue to play and enjoy the game. Its simple yet addictive gameplay, challenging levels, and multiplayer mode make it a timeless classic. It's no wonder that Triad is often cited as one of the best games released for the VIC-20 and is fondly remembered by many gamers as a significant part of their childhood gaming memories.
