Trump Castle II

Trump Castle II is a video game in the simulation genre developed by Brian A. Rice, Inc. and published by Capstone Software originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on DOS.

One of Capstone/Intracorp's best game series, the Trump Castle games are solid casino simulations licensed from the famous casino of the same name in Atlantic City, owned by Donald Trump, one of the world's richest (and most flamboyant) billionaires.

The games are basically collections of the casino games offered at the real Trump Castle: roulette, craps, poker, slots, baccarat and blackjack. Up to 4 players can compete at once in hotseat mode in Trump Castle 1 and 2, and via modem in Trump Castle 3. The games themselves are fairly faithful to those in the real world, and the AI is pretty decent.

Unfortunately, the games do not offer a tournament or career mode, unlike QQP's underrated Lucky's Casino. In terms of content and variety, there aren't as many casino games or variants as, say, Beat the House, but that's only because Trump Castle purports to represent the actual games played at the real Trump Castle. The games are identical in terms of gameplay, with better graphics in each iteration of the series.

Trump Castle 3, for example, offers SVGA graphics, a far cry from the previous games. Interestingly, however, the cool digitized photos of the real Trump Castle used in Trump Castle 2 are abandoned in favor of more cartoon-style graphics in the latest game. This makes Trump Castle 2 probably the best game in the series, as you can wander around the casino to see the different rooms (and some mundane commentary from casino patrons) on the premise when you take a break from the games.

Overall, the series as a whole is worth a look for casino fans, although they are not as good as Lucky's Casino or Beat the House.
