Alex the Allegator 2

Alex the Allegator 2 is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Free Lunch Design AB and published by Free Lunch Design AB originally released in 2003. It is currently playable on DOS.

Alex the Allegator 2 is a simple board game that can be played against the computer or against a friend. At first glance the game looks like an Othello clone, two players take turns placing colored tiles on an 8x8 board. Beyond that, the rules and objectives differ.

The goal is to end the game with the highest score once either opponent has removed all of their tiles. On each turn, a player can place one of his colored checkers or slide any row/column one unit. The row/column cannot be moved again during a turn. When a group of four checkers forming a square is made, they are removed from the board. If a player manages to remove 6 checkers in a rectangle he is awarded a special yellow checker which acts as a joker allowing him to complete a square of any color. Gray tiles will periodically appear on the board in random places without being filled; a gray tile can only be removed with 3 yellow tiles.

You can score points by completing squares of any color; for example, if your opponent slides a row and completes a square with your colored tiles, he gets the points instead of you. The game also has two challenge levels for human vs. computer mode, a high score table, sounds and music.
