Bobby Bearing

Bobby Bearing is a video game in the action genre and published by Edge, The originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC.

Bobby Bearing is a young ball of steel who lives in Technofear land, carefully avoiding the dangerous Metaplanes. One day his evil cousin arrives and lures him and his four siblings straight into said Metaplanes and abandons them forever. So Bobby's mission is to find his way home and rescue his siblings.

The Metaplanes are a large maze of isometric screens with no scrolling. The main challenge is to find your way around this maze with various dead ends and junctions; there are also elevators, magnets, air ducts and hidden switches to complicate things. There are also enemies and traps to avoid, for example, evil marbles, crushing stone blocks, or tricky places to navigate with a chance of falling off the screen.

When Bobby finds one of his brothers, he has to roll him to the exit. There are no lives or energy bars in this game: you simply have to complete it before time runs out. Dying or being stunned by an enemy results in a time penalty. Similarly, the player can easily restart a screen with a time penalty if he has gotten himself into an unwinnable situation.
