Cyclon

Cyclon is a video game in the action genre and published by Boone Corporation originally released in 1983. It is currently playable on VIC-20.

Cyclon is a space-themed reflex game similar to Midway's Space Zap. The object of the game is to survive as long as possible by defending your starbase from enemy star cruisers and deadly satellites. The game has 99 difficulty levels, and the player can start at any level from 0 to 10.

The player's starbase is located in the center of the screen, and enemies firing light missiles approach from all sides. The starbase is armed with lasers that can be fired in all four directions, as well as a limited amount of antimatter bombs that destroy all enemies on screen. Shields can also be activated to intercept enemy shots. Firing lasers and using shields consumes energy, and if the player's energy runs out, his starbase will explode. If the player does not destroy enemies or intercept their shots, their missiles will inflict damage to the player's starbase. Shields will be disabled in any part of the base that is hit by an enemy. The starbase will be vaporized if enemy shots penetrate the core reactor of the base.

The player starts the game with three bases and will gain an additional one each time he completes a level. In addition, any extra energy remaining at the end of each round will be converted into bonus points. When all of the player's star bases have been lost, the game is over.
