All beasts or dragons have two basic attacks: a punch and a tail attack, as well as a special attack that can only be performed while a certain icon is displayed. During melee combat, a quick press of the A or C button results in a throw or choke attack. There is no visible health bar, but three icons are displayed at the bottom of the screen. When a dragon is knocked down for a prolonged moment, one of the icons turns red. Once all icons are red, the combat is lost. The combat arena is surrounded by an electric fence, to which opponents can be thrown and which can also be used to initiate jump attacks.
