Description Pyro II

Undoubtedly one of the most (if not THE most) entertaining ASCII games ever designed, Pyro 2 is novel in both its gameplay and concept: you play an arsonist who fulfills his cruel streak by tying a long fuse to himself, then lighting the tail of the fuse and sneaking into the building to set fire to the gas cans he hid earlier. Rack up points by blowing up as many gas cans as possible before escaping unscathed.

Pyro 2 is not as easy as it looks. As you walk, the rope trails behind you, burning, setting fire to the pools of gasoline from the tanks you've been tipping over as you go, finally making your way down the stairs to the next floor, laughing as you go. Unfortunately, the rope burns rather quickly, and getting caught, or brushed by one of the flaming walls, or engulfed by the resulting fireballs of flames reaching the gasoline tanks, is unhealthy to say the least. Luckily, the more flames you cause in a level, the slower the chain will burn, allowing you to escape more easily. Starting at the Treasury building, you move on to the White House, Buckingham Palace and even the Kremlin, occasionally encountering interesting and historical characters along the way.

Strangely addictive and with surprisingly good sound effects for PC speakers, this game will keep you coming back for more as the gas puddles spread faster and the explosions get bigger. More experienced pyromaniacs can play the secret missions - great fun!
