In the game, the player takes the role of a United States Air Force pilot flying the F-16C Falcon in the skies over Iraq. The player can choose to fly either the no-fly zone mission or the ground attack mission. The no-fly zone mission task the player with intercepting Iraqi aircraft that have strayed into the no-fly zone. The ground attack mission task the player with attacking Iraqi ground targets.
The game features a dynamic campaign, meaning that the player's actions can affect the outcome of the war. For example, if the player destroys a lot of Iraqi tanks, the Iraqis may be forced to retreat.
The game was well received by critics and is considered one of the best flight simulators of its time.
