V-Wing

V-Wing is a video game in the action genre originally released in 1997. It is currently playable on DOS.

V-Wing is one of the numerous AUTS and Turboraketti clones, a cavefliers, which would have fallen into oblivion long ago without its new features.

The game follows the cavefliers tradition: V-shaped ships drawn with two lines fly across imaginary platform landscapes and try to shoot each other with an imaginative arsenal of weapons. There are platforms for landing and reloading and changing weapons and repairing the hits the ship has taken.

The biggest changes in AUTS are the 'flowing' water, the water remains stationary (as in most games of this genre) but pushes the ship in a desired direction, so pipe systems can be created. The environment is destroyed in a more orderly fashion and ships don't get stuck so easily on individual pixels, and ships can collide; in fact, some of the weapons are based on this feature. Other superb features include ejecting a ship, team play, altering air viscosity, gravity, etc.
