W.A.R

W.A.R is a video game in the action genre developed by Software Communications Ltd. and published by Martech Games Ltd. originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Planet Earth is about to be invaded by a group of aliens whose goal is the conquest of other planets. They are approaching Earth in a fleet of twenty cylinders containing cities, fields, factories, power plants, military bases and shoe stores. As the aliens launch their attack on Earth, a pilot, controlled by the player, has been sent to destroy each cylinder one by one within a set time.

Once the pilot has done enough damage to the cylinder, he heads to the escape portal. This escape portal has a security system consisting of five rows of colored squares that move from right to left. For a successful hack, the player must line up two arrows pointing to a square, and shoot the square whose color matches the edge of the screen. If the player fails the hack, he has to destroy the cylinder again. If successful, the player moves on to the next cylinder, where his task becomes more difficult.
