Exo Squad

Exo Squad is a video game in the action genre developed by Novotrade Software Kft. and published by Playmates Interactive Entertainment, Inc. originally released in 1995. It is currently playable on Genesis.

Exo Squad is a 1995 video game released for the Genesis console, based on the popular animated TV show of the same name. Developed by Appaloosa Interactive, this side-scrolling action game puts players in the shoes of Neo-Sapiens, genetically-engineered super soldiers, as they battle against the rebellious Exo-Fleet.

The game follows the same story as the TV show, set in a distant future where humanity has colonized multiple planets and created a subservient race of Neo-Sapiens. When the Neo-Sapiens revolt, players take control of J.T. Marsh, leader of the Exo-Squad, as he fights to regain control of the solar system. The game stays true to the show's themes of action, adventure, and political intrigue, providing an engaging and immersive story.

One of the highlights of Exo Squad is its unique gameplay mechanics. Players control a variety of characters, each with their own abilities and weapons, as they make their way through levels filled with platforming challenges and enemy encounters. The game also features boss battles against powerful Neo-Sapiens, adding an extra layer of challenge and excitement.

The graphics of Exo Squad are impressive, especially for a 16-bit game released in 1995. The character sprites are well-detailed and the environments are varied, ranging from dystopian cities to alien landscapes. The game also features cutscenes that use animated stills from the TV show, making it feel like a true adaptation of the source material.

Despite its strong points, Exo Squad did not receive the recognition it deserved upon its release. The game's difficulty, while adding to its appeal for some players, may have turned off others. However, for fans of the show or those looking for a challenging and action-packed experience, Exo Squad is a hidden gem that is definitely worth playing. Its combination of engaging storytelling, unique gameplay, and impressive graphics make it a standout title on the Genesis console and a must-play for fans of the TV show.
